Our journey of forming this social club initiated at our medical college. In medical terminology, it is said that “Health is a state of complete physical, mental & social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” We, PRAYASm Charitable Trust, always focus on all three aspects of human life to promote healthy life for everyone.
“Prevention is better than cure” is our motto.. We, PRAYASm Charitable Trust organize small talks, seminars to educate people about the basic sanitation practices and wellness. Awareness sessions are carried out at Chawls, orphanages and underdeveloped localities specifically for poor and vulnerable groups to make it more effective. Language bridges the gap between us and our audience so we often take valuable inputs from our Pharmacology professors regarding linguistic skills required to better communicate our ideas. We have donated Health & First Aid Kits to various orphanages, old age homes & other institutions. We organize free health check up camps at various local police stations in association with specialist doctors. When lockdown was imposed during the global COVID-19 pandemic we arranged training sessions to provide basic sanitation skills to the people of tribal areas of Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad & Banaskantha districts. To promote preventive measures, we distributed Masks and Sanitizers to the needy. Blood donation is also a prime activity that we work on. Pathology department of GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar always provides us good guidance regarding it and helps us to conduct successful blood donation camps, on a yearly basis. Also, with the help of our volunteers, we have set up a communication network that helps to arrange blood in case of emergencies. Yoga Classes are also held at orphanages and old age homes. Yoga is essential for physical and mental health. We invite the well-known yoga master (Dr Kamlesh Rajgor) to conduct these sessions.
Nutrition is essential for health and immunity. We provide food packages containing good nutrition value at various festivals and special days. A basic food package contains good healthy food such as Sukhadi, Chawana & khichadi. During the pandemic lockdown, we provided more than 100 rations kits containing one month’s necessary grocery having basic immunity boosting supplies. (not including wheat as it was already provided by Gujarat Government)
Mental well being is also important as physical. During pandemic lockdown, number of people facing mental health issues were at spike due to isolation. We arranged online seminars to educate the people about staying strong during difficult times and using yogic and ayurvedic therapy to boost health, updates from this activity could be found on Instagram under the name “GOOD VIBES”. on our Instagram handle @prayasm_trust. All sessions were hosted by the experts of a particular field having deep knowledge about it. We provided certificates to all the participants infixing their mother’s name as their middle name. We also organised playful activities for children of the orphanage to enhance their mental wellbeing and knowledge.
In future, from the health and nutrition aspect, we, PRAYASm Charitable Trust, are planning to set up food stalls, Waste food saving chains amd Freash Vegetables delivery chain with Food Processing Units which will avail routine meals at cheaper rates or free depending on availability of resources then. These stalls will also be a medium of employment for the needy.
We want to collaborate with small clinics and open a hospital of trust which can provide inexpensive basic and specialist care to the needy people for their medical treatment.
Blood donation camps with seminars for spreading awareness about the organ donation are also on our to-do list. With that, establishment of Blood Banks and Blood Donation Volunteer Chain is something we aim for.
Organizing huge Yoga Sessions and Mental Health awareness programmes at stadium and Auditoriums with the experts.
